Happy Summer!  It is that time of the year again when we have to pay attention to the Tropics.  As a quick reminder, please know that when evacuation orders are issued for this area, our offices will be closed.  Additionally, during the school year, if the schools are closed, we will also be closed.  We will contact each individual that is scheduled either via phone call or email regarding cancellations and will try to answer any questions at that time as well.  Telehealth may be an option if the office is closed for more than 72 hours, but it is dependent upon storm damage, need, availability, etc.  As always, when offices are closed, if you go into crisis, please do one of the following: contact the suicide hotline at 988; call 911 and/or go to the local ER; or call Baptist Hospital at: 448-227-2100 or 448-227-8478.  Messages sent via email or phone WILL NOT be checked while the office is closed.  We hope that none of the storms come our way and that this is a stress free Hurricane Season for everyone.

Happy New Year!  We hope that each of you had a very wonderful, restful, and healthy holiday season!  GCTW is looking forward to getting back to work and seeing each of you in the coming weeks.  New Years are a great time to have new goals and to implement changes.  Below are some reminders and changes for our patients.

Reminders:

1. Please remember that we are sharing office space with RISE Therapy Services.  They have an electronic check-in that uses a QR code that is posted on the wall in the lobby.  GCTW does NOT.  Instead, when you arrive please sign in on the clipboard with your therapists name on it.  Also, neither of our offices has a receptionist, so your therapist will be out to greet you when they get out of session.

2. Many insurance policies started over on January 1st.  This may mean a change in your co-pay, deductible, or a change in how much you will need to pay out-of-pocket per session until your deductible is met.  Please feel free to contact our Admin office via email or phone for information.  You can also contact the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and they should also be able to provide you with this information.

3. The GCTW Admin office is only open on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Appointment reminders are sent the week before.

4. Pediatric patients are being taken on a limited basis only.  If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact Shea or the Admin office directly.  Also, all pediatric patients are required to have a doctors referral for counseling services.

5. If you are sick, please don't come see us! :) We are more than happy to reschedule your session or offer telemedicine services. It is hard to focus on your mental health when your body is sick!

6. We follow the Baldwin County School Systems recommendations for sudden school closures.  This means that when schools are cancelled for Inclement Weather, our physical office will be closed.  We will determine the day of if telemedicine can be offered to those still desiring to be seen.  However, we have found that the poor weather conditions do seem to affect internet connections for both patients and their therapists.

7. Therapists see patients by appointment only.  Crisis sessions are only available for current, active, and treatment compliant patients.

8. If it is afterhours and you are in crisis, please do one of the following: call 911; contact the suicide hotline at 988; go to your local ER; or call Baptist Hospital at 448-227-2100.  We do not monitor emails or phones afterhours, weekends, or during holiday closures.

GCTW Updates:

1. We are updating our office hours.  For 2025 they are the following:

Mondays- Closed in the morning and open 1:00pm-6:00pm
Tuesdays- 9:00am-12:00pm/ 1:30pm-6:30pm
Wednesdays- 9:00am-12:00pm/ 1:30pm-5:30pm
Thursdays- 9:00am-12:00pm/ 1:30pm-6:30pm
Fridays- Closed
Weekends- Closed

By 2026, we will be closed everyday at either 5:00pm or 5:30pm.  We recognize that this is not something that most of our patients are used too, which is why we are slowly making the change.  Once the change goes into effect, there will be no more sessions offered afterhours.  Instead, for those working, sessions during lunchbreaks will be offered.

2. Therapists are allowed to perform telemedicine in secure locations off-site as long as patients are located in a state where the therapist is licensed and they are in a location that is also secure.  If a therapist has multiple telemedicine sessions in a row with no in-person session scheduled, the physical GCTW office may be closed.

3. Our first Holiday closure for 2025 will be for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras Day.

4. For new patients, we do not have a waiting list. If you would like to be seen then, please email us at: [email protected] or call the admin office at: 251-517-7737 ext 1 and let us know that you would like to be seen as a new patient.  We look forward to meeting you!! Please feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
