Happy St. Patrick's day! As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 vaccinations appear to be slowing the transmission rates of the virus in our community. This is exciting news to our staff as we have missed in-person interactions with our patients! At this time, a tentative opening date of June 7, 2021 has been set. So what exactly does that mean? Simply, we are hoping to start seeing patients in person again starting that week! However, it truly does depend on the rates of infection in the area.
That said, when we do re-open our doors to patients, here is what that will look like: 1. Play Therapy sessions will resume in the play room. (YAY!!!!) The play room will be disinfected after each session, therefore younger child appointments will be staggered so the room can be sufficiently aired out prior to session. 2. The ages of patients being served will return to what we had originally, which will be starting with 4 years old. 3. Individuals that are ill will NOT be seen in-person. Even for those that suffer from chronic allergies, we simply can not risk the health and safety of other patients and their families, nor the health of our staff. 4. Although having had the vaccination is preferred, we will NOT be requiring individuals over the age of 19 to have proof that they have received it. 5. Telemedicine will still be offered for patients, over the age of 8, that are unable to attend or prefer not to attend in- person sessions. Please note that some insurances may begin to deny this form of service. We will notify you if your policy does not allow for Telemedicine sessions. 6. Social distancing will be enforced. 7. Wearing a mask will be encouraged, but not required, for individuals over the age of 6. 8. Public restrooms will remain closed. 9. Seating in the lobby will remain removed. For those of you that have been here, you know that the lobby is tiny and there is no logistical way to provide seating in there and still maintain social distancing. We are sorry about that! 10. Hold harmless waivers will be required. This is to protect the agency from a law suit in the event that someone contracts COVID-19, or any other illness for that matter, while in the office.
Again, all of this is contingent upon the rates of infection in Baldwin and Mobile County. Until then, new patient appointments are offered for individuals 8 and older only. Please feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org OR email@example.com if you are in need of a new patient appointment. If you have a younger child and would like to be placed onto the waiting list for an intake in June, please also feel free to send us an email! The Staff at Gulf Coast Therapy Works would like to thank you once again for your patience during this time and we look forward to being able to continue to serve you and your family. Have a blessed day!
